Cantrall-Buckley Campground Improvement Project
Following completion of a Master Plan that was completed in 2005 with the assistance of BLM funds and then approved by Jackson County, work began on the highest priority need in the Plan, upgrading the campground to be suitable for today’s RVs. With two grants from Oregon Parks and Recreation Department and matching funds from Jackson County and other agencies, as well as significant in-kind support, a state-of-the-art wastewater treatment system and a shower/restroom building were completed in 2008.
The wastewater treatment system includes a vegetated submerged bed, a shallow, lined pond filled with native water plants that treat the effluent from the septic tanks in the park for use in irrigation in the previously dry campground. Future plans include adding RV hookups and a dump station beginning in 2016.
