Currently the GACDC’s efforts are focused on improving Cantrall Buckley Park. While Jackson County owns the park land, all park operations, maintenance, and improvements are done by the GACDC. Park improvements are funded by a combination of private and business donations, grants from private foundations and grants from the County, State and Federal government.
Day Use Area
In the Day Use Area, current priorities are renovation of the dated restroom building, improvement of the playground, and improvement of access to those with disabilities. With the generous donations from the community and assistance from Jackson County, the GACDC, through its Park Committee, recently removed the non-conforming old playground equipment, replaced it with fun and safe new equipment, and gave the conforming playground pieces a new coat of paint. In the fall of 2017, the restroom renovation will be completed, an accessway will be paved and a beautiful new community mural will be installed on the exterior of the restroom. The renovated restroom and playground is going to be a safe, fun facility for our kids and accessible for those of us with disabilities – and it will incorporate natural elements into its design. A big thanks to the Applegate moms who helped with the design!
In the Campground, new restrooms and a state-of-the-art wastewater treatment system were completed in 2008, and a new, higher-capacity water line for the campground was installed in 2011. Beginning in 2017 we will be adding RV hookups and a dump station. For more information, see the Campground Improvement Project .
Participate in this Worthy Cause
The Park Committee are really excited about these projects. If you like our ideas and think you might be able to help out, we’d love to have you join us. Ditto if you’re a regular park user — you really know what’s needed!
